Tug 2 is a 30-metre tugboat that worked in Valletta’s Grand Harbour before she was scuttled off Exiles in Sliema in June 2013 to create an artificial reef. She was placed upright on sand at about 22 metres, but a storm in late 2016 shifted her, and her bow now rests against the reef.

It is a shore dive from Exiles: enter by the steps and ladder on the bathing platform and swim about 250 metres north to the wreck. The hull is mostly intact, and the wheelhouse and engine room are open and safe to swim through. She is already well covered in growth and attracts plenty of fish, and the site makes a good night dive.

Boat traffic off Exiles is heavy, especially on summer weekends, so stay close to the yellow marker buoys and carry a surface marker buoy, which is essential in winter when the buoys are removed.
