Comino beaches
Comino is the small island between Malta and Gozo, with no cars and only a handful of swimming spots. The Blue Lagoon is the famous one; Santa Maria Bay and St Nicholas Bay are quieter sandy coves a short walk away, and Crystal Lagoon is best reached by boat.
Ferries run from Ċirkewwa on Malta and Mġarr on Gozo. There is little shade and few facilities outside the Blue Lagoon kiosks, so bring water and an umbrella.

Frequently asked questions
Do you need to book the Blue Lagoon?
In recent summers the Malta Tourism Authority has run a free booking pass for the Blue Lagoon to limit crowds. Check the current rules before you go; Santa Maria Bay and St Nicholas Bay don't need one.
How do you get to Comino?
By ferry from Ċirkewwa (north of Malta) or Mġarr (Gozo), or on a boat trip from Sliema, Buġibba or Mellieħa. The crossing from Ċirkewwa takes about 20 minutes.
Is the Blue Lagoon calm?
Usually, because it sits in the channel between Comino and Cominotto, but strong northerly or north-westerly winds can make it choppy and cancel boat trips. Check today's conditions above.
