The Blue Hole is a natural sinkhole in the limestone at Dwejra, on Gozo’s west coast, and one of the best-known shore dives in the islands. Divers carry their kit about 200 metres over rough rock to a sheltered pool, kit up and drop straight in.

The hole is about 15 metres deep. An underwater window at about 8 to 9 metres opens on to the open sea, where the wall drops to around 25 metres among large boulders. The walls are covered in tubeworms, sponges and colourful encrusting life, and a cave on the far side of the hole sometimes holds conger eels. The site is often combined with Coral Cave, Coral Gardens or the rubble of the Azure Window, which collapsed in 2017.

It is sheltered from the worst of the wind, but swell can make the exit through the window tricky. The walk over rocky ground is hard in summer heat.
