Qawra Point sits at the northern tip of St Paul’s Bay, and the reef around the point is one of the easiest shore dives on Malta’s north-east coast. The sheltered bay on the south side has a sand and seagrass bottom no deeper than about 10 metres and is widely used for training and try dives.

On the north side the seabed slopes to around 10 metres before a small wall drops to sand at 15 metres. A short swim from the entry brings you to Fra Ben Cave, a small cavern with an open ceiling at about 6 metres.

Entry is from the rocks, so boots are a good idea, and swell from the north can make the north side awkward. The area has parking, cafés and toilets nearby. Deeper sites such as Qawra Reef, L-Cave and the Imperial Eagle wreck lie further out and are normally dived by boat.
