Paradise Bay is one of the most popular beaches in Malta, although it is not as sought after as Mellieha Bay or Golden Bay. It sits at the farthest northern point of the Maltese islands, close to Cirkewwa. The beach is relatively small and can get busy in the peak of the summer season.

The water here is crystal clear. It is shallow water but, unlike Mellieha Bay, it gets deep the moment you walk some metres away from the shore. The bay is accessible by car and once parked, you’ll need to go down a flight of steps. A parking area is found on top.

Basic facilities such as a restaurant and lido are found in Paradise Bay. Those interested in watersports can also do some kayaking.

Getting there

Drive north through Mellieħa towards Ċirkewwa and turn off just before the Gozo ferry terminal; the bay sits below the cliff on Triq il-Latnija. Buses 41 and 42 from Valletta and 222 from Sliema end at Ċirkewwa, from where it is a short walk. From the car park you go down a steep flight of steps to the sand.

Parking

There is a free car park at the top of the steps, but it is not large and fills quickly on summer weekends and in July and August. Arrive early or expect to park along the road.

Good to know

A small sandy beach run by a lido, with sunbeds, umbrellas, a restaurant-bar, toilets and paid showers. The water deepens a few metres out, so it suits confident swimmers and snorkellers more than toddlers, and you get views of Comino and the Gozo ferries. The steps make it hard going for anyone with limited mobility or a pram.
