It could be better.
One of the most spectacular beaches in Gozo, Dwejra is sought after by many tourists especially in summer for its scenery and clear water. It is home to one of Europe’s most popular diving spots, known as the Blue Hole. Not so long ago, the site was blessed with the iconic Azure Window. The natural rock formation is now underwater after it collapsed in 2017. The site was used as a backdrop for a couple of scenes to the popular HBO series ‘Game of Thrones’.
Dwejra also hosts an ‘inland sea’ area. The sea here is generally calmer even when strong winds batter the area making it ideal for a swim. The area also has a small pebbled beach.
Tourists and trekking enthusiasts visit the area even in winter to see the iconic Fungus Rock and to walk on the cliffs.
