MV Cominoland was built in England in 1942 as a small Royal Navy minelayer. From 1966 she worked as a ferry between Malta and Comino, and later as a Captain Morgan cruise boat. The Gozo Tourism Association scuttled her off Xatt l-Aħmar on 12 August 2006, alongside MV Karwela, as an artificial reef.

The 35-metre wreck sits upright on sand, with her highest point at about 32 metres, the deck at 35 metres and the bows at about 39 metres. Openings were cut before sinking, so the two decks can be explored with care, and fish gather around the hull.

She is usually dived from the shore at Xatt l-Aħmar, though boat dives are possible. This is a deep dive with short bottom times, and current is sometimes reported, so it suits experienced divers.
