Coral Cave is a large, open cavern in the vertical wall at Dwejra, on Gozo’s west coast, between Coral Gardens and Roger’s Cave. Most divers reach it from the shore by swimming out from the Blue Hole, although it can also be reached from Coral Gardens or by boat.

The semi-circular entrance is about 30 metres wide, with boulders from about 17 metres down to the seabed at 28 to 30 metres. Inside, the sand floor rises to about 21 metres and the cave runs 50 to 60 metres back. The walls and ceiling are covered in orange cup coral and other encrusting life.

The corals are fragile, so keep good buoyancy, touch nothing and don’t stay too long. This is deep, and the cave is an overhead environment: stay in the open part and do not enter the silty hole at the back without cave training. A torch is useful.
